Government and red tape – the two seem to go hand in hand. But on rare occasions, the government makes a move to reduce red tape and simplify life for everyone.
That’s what happened with the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program. It was instituted to help smaller, highly qualified contractors compete for government business.
Even though 8(a) was designed to help companies like Viderity get a fair shot at government business, guess who else benefits? Customers like you. And as of October 14, 2015, sole-source has expanded to include woman-owned small business. That’s a double win for our company and all who work with us.
With a statement of work in hand, and funding for your project in place, you’ll select your 8(a), WOSB contractor (Viderity, of course!). Your government program manager will then submit a procurement request to your agency’s contracting officer.
Next, your contracting officer will submit an ‘Offer Letter’ to the person designated as Viderity’s SBA Business Development Specialist. The SBA will process the letter and return it to your contracting officer. This will happen quickly. Typically, in less than 48 hours.
Your contracting officer will then be free to send us a SOW and a Request for Proposal (or Request for Quotation). We’ll respond quickly with a proposal. We’ll tweak the proposal until it’s mutually satisfactory, and then you’ll award us the contract.
If you’ve never hired an 8(a) or WOSB contractor before, you’ll be astounded by the relative speed and ease of the process.
The accomplishment of achieving SBA 8(a) certification says something about a company. After all, the SBA doesn’t hand out 8(a) certifications just for the asking.
Companies have to comply with a strict set of standards to be eligible for the certification. Financial health, past performance, ownership criteria, operational standards – all are factors in determining whether a company will be awarded 8(a) certification.
That’s why we’re proud to have been awarded 8(a) certification back in 2009. And we’ve continued to meet the SBA’s strict standards with each annual review.
And now, as a woman-owned small business, Viderity can ensure ease and speed in contracting, as well as greater transparency in the contracting process.
With Viderity, you’ll get the advantages of a small business along with the capabilities of a large business. That’s what truly sets us apart: ease, flexibility, and competence.
Our WOSB and 8(a) certifications? Think of them as the cherries on top!
When you hire Viderity, you’ll get to sidestep the red tape and regulations that make awarding contracts painfully slow and complicated.
Thanks to our 8(a) certification and WOSB status, you’ll be able to:
- Award sole-source contracts. You can award us a contract of $4 million or less as your single, handpicked candidate. No need to endure the usual process of soliciting RFP’s from a range of companies.
- Slash administrative costs. Selecting an 8(a) or WOSB contractor like Viderity means pre-award paperwork is reduced to just one project definition document. Just one simple form!
- Get help quickly. Once you’ve identified a need for a contractor’s service, you often need their help right now. Unfortunately, it can take months to navigate the standard tedious process and put someone to work. But, thanks to our 8(a) certification and WOSB status, we can be on the job for you in just days. In fact, the average lifecycle of RFP to sole-source awarded contract is just 48 hours.
- Meet your small business quotas. Your agency is required to award a certain percentage of contracts to both small businesses and women-owned small businesses. Choosing Viderity will get you closer to meeting both quotas. With our 8(a) and WOSB statuses, we’ve got you covered.
